Charmaine Lee uses voice, feedback, and live processing in a practice recognized for risk-taking, playfulness, and improvisation. She has been recognized as “extraordinary” by New Yorker and has been featured in New York Times, Washington Post, and Wire Magazine.
She recently launched Kou Records and is here in Hawaii to conclude her 50 State US tour. For this artist talk, sheʻll demo some of her work and share about creative process, incorporating animation, embracing experimentation in her work and developing a personal language.
Join us in the beautiful space provided by Plantoem as Charmaine sits down with Deborah Harada of Lōʻihi Arts Foundation to talk story.
Charmaine will be in performance on Nov 14th and leading a workshop to further explore her techniques on Nov 15th. Tickets available through Ninipo Public Works.
